Geological attraction

These formations are composed of ferric oxide, calcium carbonate, and other elements of petrified sandstone. These rocks assumed their ginger-like shapes through differential erosion, where different portion of a rock body erode at different rates, and typically produces unusual shapes, surfaces, and formations.

The coast topography of Siaoyeliou was created by a combination of tectonic movement and sea erosion.

Siaoyeliou is located on the southern of the East Coast National Scenic Area, Taiwan.

Lichi badlands, Taitung, Taiwan

The Lichi Melange exhibits a typical badland topography along the western foot of the southern Coastal Range. When the Taiwan orogeny occurred since Pliocene, Luzon Arc in the Philippine Sea Plate has collided with the Asian continent and Lichi Melange over thrust along the southern Longitudinal Valley Fault.
